Biography:

Puerto Rican visual artist Poli Marichal utilizes printmaking, painting, mixed media, film and video to make works that explore social, political, environmental and personal issues. In her newest works, she uses digital software to animate her prints and create shorts that take the printed image to another, more fluid sphere. Her prints have been included in many recent curated exhibitions, such as Gráfica América, at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, CA, Homenaje a Lorenzo Homar print portfolio, Read more...Casa de Las Américas, La Havana, Cuba, Poli Marichal – Grabando Surcos, Galería de Arte, Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and many others. She is considered one of the pioneers of experimental film in Puerto Rico. She is a Rockefeller Media Arts Fellow, and has participated in projects funded by grants from the Mike Kelley Foundation and the Rauschenberg Foundation.
