Biography:

In the years 1981–1986, he studied at the State College of Fine Arts (now Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdańsk. He received a Master of Art diploma in professor Cyprian Kościelniak’s atelier in 1986. He is a co-creator of the most important artistic movement in the 1980s in Poland called “New Expression”. He participated in the famous exhibitions of Polish trans-avant garde: “Expression of the 1980s” (1986, Sopot); “Arsenal 88” (1988, Warsaw); “What’s Up” (1988, Warsaw). In the 1980s, he introduced Read more...colour prints into Polish exhibition halls, thus breaking the monopoly and dictatorship of classical black-and-white graphic art. Since 1986, he has also worked as a graphic designer in advertising. In the years 1988–1998, he co-operated with the Wybrzeże and Miniatura Theatres in Gdańsk, the Miejski Theatre in Gdynia, and Wojciech Misiuro’s Theatre of Expression, designing theatre posters, programme leaflets and stage design. His activities, apart from graphic design, embrace painting, artistic prints, drawing and photography. He has participated in more than 100 collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and can boast more than 35 solo exhibitions. He has worked as an academic teacher since 1990. He has held the post of the Dean of the Faulty of Graphic Art at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts since 2016.
