Iwona Rypesc-Kostovic


Born in Cracow, Poland. Multidisciplinary artist, designer and educator, active on the international art scene since 1985. Earned BFA in Painting at the Academy of Fine arts in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, MFA in Visual Arts at the Joint Graduate Program in Visual Arts at Old Dominion University/Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, USA, and Ph.D. in Visual Communications at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland. In printmaking Read more... combines traditional techniques with the newest digital technologies; in painting – breaks barriers between painting and sculpture; in fiber arts – creates finely tailored, unique art-to-wear; in digital animation – gives a new, dreamlike quality to her imagery by unifying it with music and text in fourth dimension; in design – creates posters dealing with social and environmental issues. Shares her broad artistic experience presenting lectures and teaching workshops in experimental fiber art and printmaking techniques as well as design concepts at various institutions and events worldwide. Her work has been awarded with many national and international prizes and featured in books and periodicals that deal with contemporary arts and design.
