Biography:

Pilar was born in Santiago, Chile in 1972. Since her early years was involved in an art environment what drove her to study and got a Bachelor`s degree in art with a major in engraving techniques from Universidad Católica de Chile in 1996. Her thesis to apply for that degree was in digital print, a very advanced technique at those years that is currently well known and used. Together with her work as an artist she taught art for almost 20 years in Colegio Cumbres. Her work has always been related with printmakin Read more...g techniques and it has been exhibited in solo shows in Chile and USA in 1998 and 2001 respectively. She has also participated and been selected to exhibit her works in the Second International Miniature Print Exhibition at Manhattan Graphic Center, New York, Italy in Caldogno Villa Vicenza and in Boston, USA at the Astor Galley. Due to her active participation as associated in Taller 99, a highly regarded non-for-profit printmaking studio in Chile, she has participated in many groups and biennal exhibitions in Chile and abroad in places such as Chilean Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Frank Museum of Art Westerville, Ohio, USA, Maison Du Chili in Paris among others. Currently Pilar is member of the Taller 99´s directive.
